“28+” counts women who have publicly accused Trump as of October 2024. $88.3 million is the two Carroll jury awards combined ($5 million + $83.3 million), both upheld on appeal. Despite his 2016 threat, Trump has not sued any accuser; his only claim, a counterclaim against Carroll, failed.
Trump's response: Trump has denied every allegation. He calls them "false," "fiction," and a "political smear campaign." In October 2016 he said he would sue his accusers, but the only legal claim he has brought was a counterclaim against E. Jean Carroll, and it failed.

Carroll v. Trump I: sexual abuse and defamation
Incident: 1995 or 1996 · Verdict: May 9, 2023 · U.S. District Court, S.D.N.Y.
Writer E. Jean Carroll said Trump raped her in a dressing room at the Bergdorf Goodman department store in Manhattan in the mid-1990s. A jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse and for defaming her, and awarded her $5 million. The jury did not find that the assault met New York's narrow legal definition of rape. Judge Lewis Kaplan later wrote that the jury's findings matched the common meaning of the word "rape."
The Second Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the verdict on December 30, 2024, and declined to rehear the case in June 2025.

Carroll v. Trump II: defamation
Verdict: January 26, 2024 · U.S. District Court, S.D.N.Y.
A second jury ordered Trump to pay Carroll another $83.3 million for statements he made about her while he was president. The Second Circuit upheld that award on September 8, 2025, and rejected Trump's argument that presidential immunity protected him.
The Access Hollywood Tape (2005)
Recorded in his own words
The tape was released in October 2016, two days before the second presidential debate. In the 2005 recording, Trump tells Billy Bush that he "just start[s] kissing" beautiful women without waiting, and that "when you're a star, they let you do it… grab them by the pussy." Trump called it "locker room talk," apologized for the language, and denied ever acting that way. Several women said that denial is what made them come forward.

Summer Zervos
Incident: 2007 · Lawsuit filed: January 17, 2017
Zervos, a former contestant on The Apprentice, said Trump kissed her open-mouthed, touched her breasts and thrust his genitals against her at the Beverly Hills Hotel. After Trump publicly called her a liar, she sued him for defamation. She dropped the case on November 12, 2021. Her lawyers said she had "secured the right to speak freely about her experience" and that Trump did not pay her to drop it.

Jill Harth
Incidents: December 1992 and January 1993 · Lawsuit filed: 1997
Harth said Trump tried to put his hands between her legs under a dinner table, and later pushed her against a wall at Mar-a-Lago and kissed her against her will. She sued for sexual harassment and assault. She withdrew the suit after her business partner settled a separate business dispute with Trump. She still stands by her account.

Alva Johnson
Incident: August 2016 · Lawsuit filed: February 25, 2019
Johnson, a staffer on Trump's 2016 campaign, said Trump forcibly kissed her at a rally in Florida. She sued for sexual battery and race and gender discrimination. The court dismissed the complaint without prejudice in June 2019. She withdrew the lawsuit in September 2019, citing threats to her safety and a judge she saw as unsympathetic to her case.

Incident: 1989 · Stated in 1990 divorce proceedings
In a sworn deposition during their divorce, Trump's first wife described a violent sexual assault. Before a book about the incident was published, she issued a statement saying she had used the word "rape" but did not want it "interpreted in a literal or criminal sense." Years later she called the allegations "totally without merit."
Pageant Dressing Rooms
Alleged; in his own words
Contestants from the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants, which Trump owned, said he walked into dressing rooms while contestants were undressed. Some of the Miss Teen USA contestants were as young as 15. In a 2005 interview, Trump told Howard Stern that as the pageant owner he could "get away with things like that."
Tasha Dixon (2001): said Trump walked in while contestants were naked.
Samantha Holvey (2006): said Trump walked into the dressing room unannounced.
Temple Taggart McDowell (1997): said Trump kissed and hugged her against her will. Trump said he did not know her.
